The Church is blessed by having a
number of elderly folk within its family and by being in contact
with other elderly folk in local residential homes and in the community.
An Elderly Care Team operates to provide pastoral care for the
elderly whether or not they are able to come along to our regular
services.
Several times a year special events
are held. ‘Evergreen’ services are short services of worship held
on a Sunday afternoon followed by a cup of tea. These are normally
held at Easter, Harvest and Christmas. At other times there are ‘Afternoon
Tea Parties’ with entertainment and refreshments. For both events,
volunteers provide special help with transport to ensure that everyone
who is able can attend.
The Elderly Care Team also makes home
visits to those who are unable to get to our special events. During
such visits Holy Communion can be offered if requested. In addition,
the Church encourages members who care for elderly relatives and
friends on a routine basis, often helping with shopping, pensions
and other needs. We are very grateful for their tireless and long-term
help.
